“I’ve never seen the air so clean!”

words spoken from a space station after complete global ‘disaster’

-‘The Day After Tomorrow’ 2004, PG 13

I’ve been a tad obsessed with end-of-the-world disaster movies. This is no surprise to me since using “worst-case-scenario” thinking usually calms me down. And why I need that calm is, I believe, pretty much the same reason as why everyone else needs it: times are tough right now.

Many eons ago, my father taught me that when fear overcomes me, if I think about the worst-case-scenario I can come up with, then work out how I would handle that, my fear level would drop.

Strangely, it does. I suspect it has something to do with acceptance.

What do you think?
